happy harvest

I spent some time in the gorgeous dusk light this evening taking photos of some of my favourite new – and old – items. We received a beautiful Hudson’s Bay Company wool blanket with the traditional coloured stripes as a wedding gift from some wonderful friends and it inspired me to style a bit of a photo shoot. As it’s also very clearly now autumn in BC, I am now ‘allowed’ to start decorating with pumpkins, another one of my favourite harvest items.  The vintage lantern I picked up at an antique store in Fort Langley a few weeks back and have been itching to make it the star in my fireplace centrepiece. The last and perhaps most useful of these items is my new apple peeler/corer/slicer that somehow makes apples ten times more delicious and desirable. Finally ‘an apple a day’ may actually be achievable. Continue reading

photographing antiques

Antiquing is one of my favourite pastimes, as is photography.  So what could be better than bringing these two things together?  Some of the best pieces in my home are antiques that I found in a shop, some were passed on to me, and some, such as this globe, was actually bought off of Craigslist!  Not only do I love travel, but I love travel-related… anything!  Especially maps.  I will have to do a specific post later solely featuring my map collection.  It is ridiculous, truly.  This globe, however distressed is a thing of beauty.  The sugar bowl and creamer, also below, is my local find from last weekend’s trip to Fort Langley.  The colour is absolutely perfect, and somehow matches the exact colour of our wedding invitations.

For those of you cave dwellers who still haven’t caught on to this popular social media site, Pinterest is an online hub of glorious imagery and ideas. It’s a place to safe-keep ideas in the form of images or videos that you want to remember, including most often recipes, crafts, interior design, wedding inspiration and fashion trends. You can search for basically anything you normally would on Google but in a more visual way. I have a few boards that I regularly pin to including ones for style, home, recipes, wedding, and crafts. Compared to most who utilize Pinterest as much as I do, I really don’t ‘pin’ that often. Continue reading

cheers to the blog

As a recent graduate and bride-to-be living on the west coast, I find myself making, baking and picture taking a lot in my spare time. Working in the tourism industry has fostered my creativity and the urgency of planning a wedding that is now only a year and a half away has got me constantly hunting for new and interesting DIY blogs all over the internet. As I seem to be spending more and more time making crafts, baking and cooking, photographing my life and hunting for antiques, I have decided to record my triumphs and tribulations for you to learn from and laugh at.

You can also follow me on Twitter and Pinterest!

Cheers, and enjoy!
