It’s nice to live with someone who understands my joy of crafting, and enjoys taking on some d.i.y. projects himself. My husband gladly put together these beautiful wooden gift boxes for his groomsmen himself – I am so proud! He stained wooden craft boxes from Michaels and filled them with a unique bottle of their favourite kind of spirit, an engraved cigar holder, and the boutonniere and socks they were to wear as part of our wedding party.
It’s been an entire month since what was quite literally the best day of my life. My new husband and I had an incredible day full of love, laughter, family, friends, food & dancing – we honestly wish we could do it all over again and again.

My bridesmaids are amazing. They have been uber sweet in planning and organizing an amazing bridal shower and stagette for me this summer, not to mention were amazingly helpful during our entire wedding weekend, so I of course wanted to put something special together for each of them to show my thanks. Instead of going with some of the more obvious choices such as initialed jewelry or clutches, I opted to put together a box of treasures for my best girls. I began with a white modern lacquer storage box from Chapters. These are handy as they can be used for jewelry storage or a number of things afterwards. I think found some items which I thought the girls would like, including a Royal Apothic roll on fragrance, and a funky washi tape from Spruce Collective, a wonderfully scented Voluspa candle from Chapters, and a unique handmade piece of jewelry from Brick & Mortar Living. I placed the items on some vintage fabric napkins, added a vintage plexi initial on top of the lid, and tied it all together with a ribbon. Lastly I inserted a sweet note expressing my love and thanks to them for being so awesome. Each box encapsulated some key elements of my style and personality. I hope they liked their vintage, yet modern and fragrant, hand-assembled treasure box.
One of the things I was most looking forward to as part of the planning for our upcoming wedding was definitely the invitations! I love being crafty with paper, colour, textures and fonts and as such this is one of the elements that I put the most work into. Now I’m not a photoshop or Indesign pro (I wish I was) so I ordered a pre-designed, and edited with our info digital download of the invitation and RSVP postcard from Cooper Jane Design on Etsy. I then got them printed and put them each together myself, (with help from my talented fiance of course). I created a simple detail sheet to go with the invitation that provided more information for our guests.
If you, like me, grew up watching Julie Andrews win over the hearts of the Von Trapp family through song and dance, then you also have probably always had a special place in your heart for bright copper kettles, and warm woolen mittens. Today I received one of ‘my favourite things’ in the mail, and just had to share how wonderfully joyful it made me. It doesn’t matter what’s inside a brown paper package tied up with stings, it’s the simple gesture of the sender taking care to wrap and tie up an item in such a thoughtful and beautiful way, that especially in this day and age, makes all the difference. They say presentation matters and I wholeheartedly agree. I always try to bring a little something extra to the wrapping and packaging of gifts, and hope that it is appreciated by the receiver as much as I appreciate receiving such things. Continue reading

If you don’t know what Pinterest is… you’re living under a rock. For those of you cave dwellers who still haven’t caught on to this popular social media site, Pinterest is an online hub of glorious imagery and ideas. It’s a place to safe-keep ideas in the form of images or videos that you want to remember, including most often recipes, crafts, interior design, wedding inspiration and fashion trends. You can search for basically anything you normally would on Google but in a more visual way. I have a few boards that I regularly pin to including ones for style, home, recipes, wedding, and crafts. Compared to most who utilize Pinterest as much as I do, I really don’t ‘pin’ that often. Continue reading
